March 27th-30th

Thank you for your sweet comments. I just got back, and we had a great weekend.
I had a wonderful experience; my camera batteries bailed on me (twice! - the bumping around my backpack turned the camera on), and I completely and utterly neglected the diary. I did a few snapshots with my phone (more of that later) - other than that, I just old-fashioned enjoyed myself. A bientôt:)

March 26th

Once a year, I take a little trip to Paris with my friend. We visit another friend, who lives there. Every year I can't get over how lucky I am, that I get to do this -- every year. I am so fortunate.

Born to grind

I have been grinding spices for tomorrow's moroccan lamb. The spice blend is called Haz el Hanout (it feels so good to say; prenounced hrrazz el hrranut :)) My fingers smell awesome of fennel, cinnamon and coriander, and I just vowed, from now on I will always buy spices hole - it was so fulfilling to grind them myself. I have to admit, I have a great passion for cooking (and baking and preserving), so two days in the kitchen like this, preparing and making slow food with tons of flavour, warmth and strength, makes me dizzy with happiness.
Today, being the first day of the easter holiday, also made room for a little baking (apple, vanilla and raisin).
... and blogging, of course ;-) I have Kupkup-land on my blog roll, and look what she made. And amazing drawings by Liza Corbett (via Book By Its Cover).

March 19th

Elsebeth had bought a great book with drawings of fruits, veggies, plants and trees, and some of them were in that "dottet" style I remember so well from my 70s childhood. Melita wrote in a comment the other day, that she felt blogging was about remembering our childhoods -- this was true for me today:)

Wonderland

Andrea Tachezy posted weather"Changes" yesterday - I second that. Yesterday sun melted all the snow away here, and this morning this (below) was what I saw when I opened my eyes to a new day. It's beautiful and so quiet. Last day at work before the easter holiday - how do you celebrate easter?

Coldness and kolam (again)

Yesterday we had snow - blizard-like - and this morning, the sun made everything look crisp, bright and very beautiful.
... two days ago, spring was in full bloom, it was 7 degrees cel and the sun was warm. I cut back the rose on my balcony, and as beautiful the snow and recent frost may be for my eyes to look at, it's leathal to my little cut-back rose. I hold my breath ...

I almost finished the pillow - short of the pearls

(the botanic drawings on the top image is from this website - a treasure chest of downloadable clipart)

HAVE-A-LOOK-AT-THIS

I bought this childrens' book today, and oh my! Stian Hole's Garmann's Summer is a very sweet story about a boy who is about to start school, of his fear of this, and of other people's fears. And it is absolutely wonderfully illustrated.
The author is a norwedian graphic designer. I'm a fan:)
Have a beautiful weekend:)

March 12th

... just can't get enough:)
Besides loving to see where people work, I also really enjoy seeing how they work. Tascha makes great videos, where she shows her paintings in process, and last night I watched this little video with renowned childrens' books illustrator, Quentin Blake (via Penelopes Illustration Friday-blog).

Completely Kolam

Inspired by Bibbi's floor, I'll try making one of my pillows a kolam pillow, and so I went kolam-mad, trying to create my own kolam. It was great fun. And a bit hard to get the system to add up, and still make a beautiful pattern. I thought the most fun was to do an endless-line-kolam. I found help and inspiration in numerous great websites, here, here and here.

Pillow factory

The new rooms are ready - it's pillow-time. I'm knitting and sewing:)

And WAUW -- please treat yourself to Sandra Backlund - Absolutely thrilling knitwork. And perfect styling. (via Camilla Engman). Wow, wow, superwow.

March 6th

Tofu-banana cheese cake. I haven't tried making it yet, but it looked delicious sitting there in the magazine:)

Deborah Mori has a really positive and inspiring thing going; with every post she writes, she will mention something she's grateful for. I like that idea.

March 3rd, upside-down

Smosch, whose blog is always worth visiting, is doing a photo-series, capturing a year of doings - "200X was the year ..."- she has 2000 and 2001 covered so far.
Asphalt and Air also has a really cool project going, and via her site I also discovered that my little tag on workplaces is alive and well -- that is so nice:)))
