Chirp-Chirp

Not too long ago we hung this little devise on the balcony. A chicken wire »tube« stuffed with natural, unbleached felting wool. For the birds' nests. I didn't have any expectations as to how fast, or if, even, they'd find it ...

 but the next day, surely, there it was, a little Titmouse, plucking away at the wool.

Needless to say, I was totally mesmerized by this little creature, I even got so keep on catching her on camera, I got in half an hour later for work!  Thank goodness, I'm my own boss! ;o)

She's been around every day since. The tube is almost empty now. We'll have to fill er up :-)

Yello! And Happy Easter :-) I still have a little work to do, but after tomorrow it's Goodbye office, and Hello couch!
I have my book, a rather large order of Coffee Owls waiting, + a knitting project, should I be needing' a such.

On another Eastery note, Tina shot an amazing series of Rustic Easter foods and table setting for Clemmensen&Brok. I chipped in with ink, a DIY watercolor/ink background for making name cards, and these knitted Easter chicks for decoration.

The Three Little Chicks (recipe below) are made from scraps of yarn and glass beads. They are very easy and fast to knit. The paper they are sitting on is made for the egg-shaped name cards below. First watercolored, then drizzled with indian ink, to imitate shell of quail eggs. Cut out rustically in egg shapes and write the names of your guests. Or put the (dried!) watercolor paper in the printer and print the names, using your favorite typeface. Cut in egg shapes.

Easter Cutting at Bakkehus Museum

Last Saturday we spend the whole day cutting Easter mobiles from old templets at The Bakkehus Museum.

In the early 19th century Bakkehuset (House on the Hill) was the home of Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbek and a cultural meeting place for the authors, scientists and artists of the time; H. C. Andersen, H. C. Ørsted, B.S. Ingemann, N.F.S. Grundtvig, Johan Ludvig Heiberg, Steen Steensen Blicher and many others came here to discuss literature, science and art with like-minded people.

The house exudes warmth, creativity and broad-mindedness. And the cut-out event was a hoot!

Emphera Lucky Bags

I am planning to offer a variety of little emphera bags for collage making for sale soon. Each bag contains different materials like old original book pages, picture lottery pieces, ribbons, stamps, playing cards and such. Each one different, each one made with love.

Favorite shop

CINNOBER is a delightful independent book and design shop in the heart of Copenhagen. I love coming here; it is cozyness and coolness all in one breath, and the selection of design-, graphic- and illustration books is immense. As is their range of reprints, japanese tape, notebooks, stamps, cards, pencils and other office yums.

Here I can browse and flip. Sniff and dream. And be inspired.
I buy most of my books here.

Andreas Gursky

Went to see photographer Andreas Gursky at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art last week. I'm in awe of his work; photographs, highly manipulated, so subtle.


His often huge photos seem, by first impression documentary; like snapshots of a situation, a landscape or an everyday scene, but on closer look, the images dissolve—what I am looking at can't be true, the perspectives messes with my understanding of space, I can see something has been altered, but can't tell exactly what, and it leaves me questioning everything in the image (»If this isn't what I thought it was—what I was sure of was true!—what else isn't?«

In one grip, he challenged my visual perception, embraced my aesthetic (some of his works are beautiful beyond words), commented on society and made me laugh.

In awe indeed!

Knitted with Wilfert's »Amalfi«; a blend of 80% merino and 20% angora, these long arm warmers are sooo soft and warm and cozy. Very easy made with 5 needles, 1 skein per arm, and a little pattern—not too difficult—made it the perfect tv-project! I have been watching Downtown Abbey. Alas, will Mary and Matthew ever get one another?

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday, a warm and cozy Christmas and a festive New Year!
I have enjoyed every minute of this past week, and today I spent some time looking back, remembering the year that passed, looking forward to the year to come.

2011 held a sad goodbye for me, to a grand soul whose company, wisdom, lightness and deep I miss profoundly.
The year also held hellos; to new friends, a new place of work and sweet colleagues.
