• POP-UP SHOP med unikke materialeposer, one-of-a-kind-collageelementer, papir, kort, transferpenne, designark o.m.a
• INSPIRATION i form af materialer, smukke bøger og grafisk lir
• FROKOST, THE OG KAFFE i dejlige, inspirerende lokaler. Og kage. Og slik
Hvis du har lyst til at se hvad tidligere, glade kursister har skrevet om os, så kan du kigge her eller her.
Datoer for forårshold:
Lør d. 22. marts 2014 (9.30-16.00)
Lør d. 3. maj 2014 (9.30-16.00)
Pris: 1.650,- ALT INKLUSIV - du møder bare op!
Sted: Dronningensgade 73B, 1., 1420 Kbh K
Vil du med, så send mig en mail på christine@christineclemmensen.dk, med dit navn og adresse, og den dato du ønsker at deltage! Vi glæder os til at se dig :-)

Now, here we are

I love this time of year!

Looking back on the year that passed, dwelling a little on the choices I made, the turns I took, and the responses I had to things that happened. Then setting a course for the new year.

Creatively, 2013 has been sweet. On January 1st I can celebrate my company's 5th birthday, and I still think selfemployment rocks. Beside great graphic assignments this year, I have also been teaching; Six collage workshops came to in collaboration with the wonderful Pernille Mühlbach. Which opens new possibilities of more collage work; more glue-stained fingers and ink pads all over the place -- more creativity.

So, how 'bout them intentions for the year to come? Well for my part, I wish to learn! Read. Commune with nature a little bit more than I have. Take a class. Thinking natural yarn dying would be absolutely amazing. Pottery maybe? Knitting for sure. And patchwork too. To work. And laugh. Walk. And swim in the ocean. Share, and enjoy.

I wish for you to enjoy as well! To have more of that which is important to you, and to fly high, all through 2014.

Happy New Year!

Christmas Card Ornaments

This year's Christmas Card Ornament is a little balsa-wood tree. The backside is cutout from Danish magazines from the 1950s, and it is packed in a cellophane bag with tiny paper stars. Each tree is uniquely hand made and measures app 7x9cm. The little dangling ornaments are 30 dkr./ 5,5 $/ 4 €  a piece + shipping.

Last year I made these little Angels as Christmas cards, and I got several requests for purchase. So I made a batch again this year. Angel motifs are doodles by me, there are 5 different angels, so there's no way of knowing precisely which one you will receice — just like in real life! ;-) (you can see another photo here). Each is uniquely hand cut. They measure app 10x10 cm, fluffy »cloud« included, and backside of angel + string is pink. Each ornament is packed in an individual cellophane bag. And the price is the same as the Trees; 30 dkr./ 5,5 $/ 4 €  a piece + shipping.

Please send me an email with info of which kind, and how many you wish to buy, your name and address, and I will send you the ornaments by mail. For delivery before xmas, please order before Dec. 18. (Denmark), Dec. 12. (Europe) and Dec. 9. (Rest of the world).

Thank you :-)

Here we go – ready or not ...

On Thursday Pernille and I – inspired by, and together with Marie-Louise – went to this great Christmas paper cutting event with the lovely ladies from Edition Poshette; sisters Simone Bendix and Helene Schjerbeck. It was a wonderful arrangement; their ideas were so sweet and the hostesses themselves were ever present and just adorable!

... and yes! I even learned to make this star!

Sunday with Blixen

Left: »Karen Blixen in New York« Photo: Cecil Beaton. 1959.
Today my friend Henriette and I went to the Karen Blixen Museum; her house Rungstedlund. What a Lady. What a Place. What a Day. Thank you Henriette for a field trip finally coming true ;-)

In December it will be 100 years ago Karen Dinesen travelled to Africa to marry her fiancé, Bror Blixen, and run the Coffee farm—to begin with alongside of him, later on her own.

In April this year, the letters Blixen wrote from her seventeen years in Africa, was published in an unabridged edition; A book of four volumes. The Museum held a special exhibit with the story of, and excerpts from the letters.

Documentary on Karen Blixen.

»The Rooms« are private, and we weren't allowed to photograph in there. The only thing I could take a picture of was the basket of »footies« we had to wear (to spare the floors).

(They were in fact very nice footies!)
:-)

Karen Blixen's story, the private rooms, and her personal letters had quite an impact on me. On us, I dare say. What a Lady. What a Storyteller. What a Day!

New Project!

Thank you for your input on the previous post. I value your opinion greatly.

So. While I am a-thinking about how and where, I want to share recent new project. Yup! Patch It Up—this crafter is cuttin'em squares and sewin'em back together!
The four top fabrics are from Garn-iture – a small yarn-barn/fabric store on Vesterbrogade in Copenhagen. A true gem.
Btw—do you know Frankie? It's a great mag with enough graphic yum-yum to make me pay a small fortune, but it was a great read too (which I consider quite the bonus ) -- I just fell for the layout! Happens all the time. Other bonus reads I bought for the covers: Jonathan Safran Foer, Philip Pullman and Tea Obreht. And we all know how those went. Mucho mucho Bonus.

Gotta go cut some squares now.

Savouring the art of: Andrea D'Aquino
Looking forward to: meeting 12 Collage Artist next Saturday

Of Summer, and Thoughts on blogging

A perfect Summer vacation! No less. I hope your Summer has been just as wonderful, and that you've had time to enjoy time and loved ones.
---
I haven't been posting much lately, not because I didn't find the time, but because I've been thinking ... Wondering—what it is that I'm doing here. I would like to start somewhere else:

We had a booth at the local flee market this Summer, and while we were selling our old stuff there, it struck me that the flee marked–»feel« had changed as opposed to previous years. Years ago, flee markets were special, you could make rare finds and bargains, but today, flee markets are everywhere, every weekend, Summer and Winter, good finds are rarer (and there are clothes everywhere).
Perhaps there are more sellers than buyers!

I've been wondering if the same goes for blogging? If maybe, in the explosion of numbers of bloggers over the last couple of years, there are now more posters than readers?
If I myself, have turned into more of a poster than a reader? (To be honest, I »read« Pinterest more than I read blogs!)

Time changes stuff. Stuff evolve. Shape into new shapes.
I'm not opposed. Just considering how I fit into this. If I still fit. Or if it's time for me to change too ...

A Rose is a Rose is a Rose

I tried to soak rose leaves in almond oil, but it didn't work! The oil started to smell funny after a few days. Too many bacteria, I guess...

So I lay the rest of the leaves out to dry, and now I have a small glass of pretty little dried rose leaves. To mix in a sugar scrub, maybe ...

Abandoned

I used to play with the children who lived here ... a gazillion years ago. It was a small farm, with only about 15 animals. I remember those light brown, calm cows, and the milk running through a tube under the ceiling. I remember the smell and the sounds. Today, there was only whispers of time gone by.

Elderflower Adventure

This weekend we went to our favorite elderflower spot for this years' elderflower syrup batch. It is sitting in the fridge now, in a few days it will be ready to be bottled—some we will savour right away, some will stay in the freezer. Come winter, we will defrost and drink—hot or cold—and taste Summer all over again!
You can find the recipe at Clemmensen & Brok.

Stamp

I have just spend the whole week looking at these stamps, trying one out from time to time :-) The box sits in my window, and I smile every time I pass by ...
In between, I've been working like crazy. Summer is upon us, and with it, the anticipation of vacation. We have much to do before we lock up for the holidays. Thankfully.

Flees

Pernille & I met this morning at the flee marked to see if we could find inspiration and collage candy for the up-coming workshop season. Here's one of the treasures we found! Wooden stamp blocks aren't the best for stamping on paper, but it is doable, especially if the paper is damp. But the motives are glorious, and if not to stamp with directly, you can always use the patterns as inspiration for carving rubber stamps.

We also found some great paper goods (paper greats ;-) and plastic trinkets, which are going to be for sale in the pop-up shops during our workshops.
...
I've added a new board to Pinterest—with collages and Art Journals. The pinned collages previously lived in the board "Loveliness", but needed their own space to play :-)
